A Lake Norman Waterfront Retreat: Vanishing-Edge Pool and Outdoor Living in Mooresville, NC

This Mooresville project brings the pool, outdoor kitchen, fire-pit seating and lake access into one waterfront setting. A curved vanishing edge faces Lake Norman, while a raised circular spa and a 2,000-square-foot Silver Vogue marble patio create space to relax and gather beside the water.

H2O-Matic Pool and Patio carried the material selections through the pool surround and outdoor living features, then completed the setting with steps toward the lake, lighting and landscaping.

The curved pool edge allows water to flow into a lower catch basin. From the patio, the pool water and Lake Norman beyond become part of the same view. The elevated project photographs also show the catch basin beneath the edge, revealing a part of the design that is less visible from the main gathering areas.

This is the defining feature of the project. The pool’s curve, the flowing edge and the waterfront backdrop give the space a different character from a pool surrounded entirely by a conventional deck.

A Raised Circular Spillover Spa

The raised spa provides a second water feature within the pool layout. Its circular form follows the softer lines of the pool, and its spillover connects it visually with the water below.

Tundra Grey split-face veneer finishes the spa exterior. The same veneer appears on the outdoor kitchen, gas fire pit and seat wall, connecting these separate elements through a repeated material.

Rubicon Bay Interior and Safari Multicolor Tile

The pool interior uses StoneScapes Mini Pebble in Rubicon Bay. Safari Multicolor six-by-six-inch waterline tile provides the finish along the water’s edge.

These selections sit within a wider palette of Silver Vogue marble, Techo-Bloc Villagio pavers, Tundra Grey split-face veneer and leathered granite. The photographs show how the pool finishes relate to the stone surfaces around the water, while the evening views show the effect of the pool lighting on the same setting.

The expansive patio provides space for poolside seating, cooking and gathering. Silver Vogue marble forms the main surface, with a Techo-Bloc Villagio paver accent border around it.

The border defines the marble patio’s edge and introduces a separate paving detail around the outdoor living areas. Recessed lighting is also incorporated into that border, so the hardscape has a different appearance after sunset.

An Outdoor Kitchen Facing the Waterfront

The full outdoor kitchen has leathered granite countertops and Tundra Grey split-face veneer. The photographs show a built-in grill, refrigerator, cabinets and a wraparound counter, with the lake visible beyond.

This creates a dedicated cooking and serving area on the terrace. Repeating the spa’s veneer at the kitchen ties the two structures together, while the granite introduces a separate finish at the working surface.

Gas Fire Pit and Seat Wall

A gas fire pit and seat wall form another gathering area beside the pool. Both use the same Tundra Grey split-face veneer as the spa and kitchen, keeping the material palette consistent across the project.

The fire-pit photographs show cushioned chairs arranged around the circular flame feature with Lake Norman behind them. This seating area provides another way to enjoy the waterfront setting beyond swimming or dining.

Lighting, Landscaping and Steps to the Lake

The lighting includes path lights and in-lite recessed fixtures installed in the paver border. The path lighting and recessed border details bring illumination to different parts of the outdoor space without relying on a single lighting feature.

Steps lead down toward the lake, extending the project beyond the immediate pool terrace. Landscaping finishes the edges and connects the substantial hardscape with the surrounding property.

This project shows how a pool, spa, patio, outdoor kitchen and fire feature can work together in a waterfront backyard. The right combination for your property starts with how you want to use the space, the views you want to preserve and the relationship between the home and outdoor areas.
